A WRITING AND ART COMPETITION!

In conjunction with Francophonie 2023’s Dis-Moi Dix Mots (Tell Me Ten Words),

Alliance Française de Brunei Darussalam is hosting a writing & art competition!

CHOOSE YOUR CATEGORY

WRITING

Write a short story using part or all of the 10 words (below), in less than 50 words, in either French, English or Malay.

It could be on what the word(s) evoke, or just tell us which one you prefer and why.

DRAWING OR PAINTING

Illustrate what the words evoke through your drawing or painting.

You will need to submit a scan of your artwork in proportion to 40cm x 30cm approximately.

The TEN words

Each year, a theme intended to convey a message about the French language and ten words illustrating it are chosen by the Ministry of Culture, in conjunction with the French-speaking partner countries.

This year's theme is about:

"TIME"

"AT ALL TIMES" (À TOUS LES TEMPS)

The contest invites everyone to draw inspiration from words that evoke the time in all its forms.

10 words to express our relationship to time, to all times.

Dis-moi dix mots's 10 words express this theme: long or slow, marking tempo, verbs on time...

Année-lumière : Light year : Tahun cahaya

Avant-jour : Dawn : Subuh

Dare-dare : Double-quick : Terburu-buru

Déjà-vu : Déjà vu : Dejavu (Pernah dilalui)

Hivernage : Wintering / Rainy season : Musim hujan

Lambiner : To dawdle : Berlengah

Plus-que-parfait : Past perfect : Kala lampau sempurna

WIN FREE FRENCH LESSONS

Participants stand a chance to win free French lessons!

A 12 hours group class or a 5 hours private tuition, face-to-face with an expert native teacher.

Note: If the winner is a native French, the prize can be a private tuition package of 5 Malay classes.
